Vollmer-Gray uses the latest methods to provide accurate three-dimensional models. Computer model creation is accomplished using 3 types of non-destructive measurements. The first type is done with state-of-the-art 3D laser scanning. Geometrical properties are measured to produce a point cloud that will be analyzed on a computer. The second method is done with photogrammetry. Photogrammetry involves taking a network of overlapping photos of the subject to be digitized. Reference points within those photos are then processed and analyzed in a computer program that calculates the X, Y, and Z data. The third method involves manual measurements with tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
As a result we are able to provide accurate three-dimensional computer models of scenes, vehicles, equipment, objects, and humans. These models will be instrumental in reconstructions, simulations and animations to help strengthen our analysis and provide illustrative insight.
